We Build Peace.
We Believe in Peace.
We are Peace.
By Peaceful Means is a grassroots community organization born in East Baltimore in 2007. We are on mission to interrupt physical and structural violence by empowering youth through peace education, advocacy, and employment.
Our Pedagogy
Peace Heroes
All ages, genders, & backgrounds:
our youth learn about the lives of those creating positive change in their communities around the world and bring that hope back into our worlds
Carrying Leadership
Campers become counselors and carry the torch of peace and justice to those who were once in their shoes. Our Youth Counselors create and run their own Peace Studios ranging from nature, dance, and sports
Expressive Arts
Our campers engage with peace and justice themes through many different art mediums and showcase their art each end of summer. Our Safe Streets tribute quilt is pictured above.
One day, we must come to see that peace is not merely a distant goal we seek, but that it is a means by which we arrive at that goal. We must pursue peaceful ends by peaceful means. Martin Luther King Jr.
Our annual Baltimore Peace Camps have served over 800 families to date.
In addition to youth peace education and youth employment opportunities, BPM also offers a number of trainings for organizations imagining a better world from inside their group dynamics.
